February 8th: Prešeren Day, the Slovene Cultural Holiday

February 8th is declared a work free day in Slovenija since 1991. It is the biggest Cultural Holiday in Slovenija and all the galleries and museums have a free entrance on that day. February 8th is France Prešeren Day.
Dr. France Prešeren was a 19th century Romantic Slovene poet and a lawyer. He was born on December 2nd or 3rd 1800 and died on February 8th 1849.
One of his many famous works is "Zdravljica" / "A toast", which is also a national anthem of Slovenia. ⇐ Check the link, there are lyrics in english and slovene!

Every year on this day I visit galleries and museums. This year I only had time to visit The Slovenian National Gallery and The Museum of Modern Art.
In Slovenian National Gallery was from June 21st untill February 10th open Ivana Kobilca exhibition named "Painting is something beautiful...". Beautiful, worth of seeing. If you didn't make it, some of her works are part of National Gallery permanent collection and you can see them anytime.

Music ...

Some people need coffee to start a day, all I need is music and I will dance thru the day ;)

I started dancing when I was 6 years old and I'm a dancer ever since. Music is my coffee. ;)

Love yourself

Most important thing that I've learned in life is to love myself. If you don't love yourself, you can't love others. Eckhart agrees, but Freud disagreed and called it a narcissism. Calvin also described self-love as a plague. Osho however exposed the first lesson of love; to learn, how to be alone. So if you hate yourself, as you were taught to, how can you even be with yourself? Being bommbed with fear from priests, politicians, mass media … each day… do we have enough spiritual energy to rebell? 

To eat one walnut before breakfast, became my morning ritual and this time, this cutie surprised me and I decided to share some love with you ;)

I got these really nice fabric in store very cheap and put it away for a while, because I didn't have time to sew. But now I had time and needed to make something out of it, so here it is :)
